The establishment of an educational workshop for nursing students by nurse anesthetist students
Introduction: A convergence of needs has enabled nurse anesthetist students (NASs) to lead, for the last four years, an educational workshop that has been a great success among nursing students (NSs).
Background: Some types of care are characterized by an absence or limited opportunity for internship learning. A clinical solution has been provided based on the theories and processes of active and experiential learning.
Objectives: The objective of the study was to assess the relevance for and effects on the NSs of the system set up by the NASs.
Methods: A post-hoc quantitative monocentric analytical survey was conducted on all participating NSs. The statistical analyses were performed in Excel© for the closed questions. The units of analysis identified in the responses to the survey’s open-ended question were processed by semantic categorization. Results: The model, which was praised for its form and content, enabled NSs to acquire skills in line with expectations. Being taught by the NASs is considered to be less stressful than when a trainer is involved. The NASs were able to arouse the interest of the NSs, who consider them more legitimate in both their technical and teaching skills. However, the NSs remain cautious about their abilities to prepare and carry out the actions studied.
