The final project (travail de fin d’études, TFI) which nurses complete in the first stage of their training is currently the last piece of assessment before they are granted a state nursing diploma. Most pedagogical teams choose to introduce students to research, and consequently seem to see this project as a valuable professionalization tool. The project, which is carried out at the end of their training, allows students to bring together different forms of knowledge: scientific knowledge, savoir-faire and savoir être, practical knowledge, and so on. Is this really the case? The research presented in this article identifies the forms of knowledge used in these projects. Fifty-three final projects by nursing students were analyzed. These projects came from five training institutions, all of which differ in the training tools they use.
