Nursing research in a clinical environment: The experience of the maternity ward at the Sainte-Justine University Hospital

The progress of nursing research within clinical settings is slow. Helping a research culture develop in these environments requires concerted action. This is effectively the only way real change can occur. Starting from this point of view, an association was formed between the leadership of the Nursing Faculty of the Université de Montréal and the Research Center and Nursing Unit of the Sainte-Justine University Hospital. This experiment is unique and deserves attention for the benefit of nurses and the advancement of the profession. This article describes the strategic plan developed, and its major accomplishments.
