Solicitude is a term used in everyday language, closely related to care and to concern. Paul Ricœur gave it a singular place in his “little ethics” and revealed its depth. According to Ricœur, solicitude is akin to care and yet is not its translation. Clarifying the specificity of Ricœur’s solicitude allows us to better perceive what is at stake in order to rethink care.
