This study, conducted at Percy military hospital (Clamart, France), offers a description of nurses’ practices for each stage of the drug use process. Their knowledge about drug risks was also evaluated. The results of this large study provide an assessment of practices before the establishment receives hospital accreditation, and will be used to define the priority areas of improvement. The recent implementation of a drug dosage dispensing system and the simplification of reports on adverse drug reaction are examples of actions aimed at improving safety and decreasing iatrogenic risks. In addition, pharmacists proposed training for nurses on drug-induced iatrogenic disease.
