In this study, we were interested in looking at the training practices adopted by trainers at IFSIs (nurse training institutes in France). Whilst there is a lot of research in this field, it was through the analysis of working situations, and more particularly in the field of professional education, that our research was carried out. We observed how trainers proceed during the sessions when the trainee nurses come back from their training period, most often called “training period exploitation.” We attempted to understand how they guide the reflective analysis, starting with the students’ expression of their experiences in professional situations. More specifically, we analyzed how, in relation to an object presented by a student, they act and contribute to the progress and advances that will lead to the development of experience and therefore to the expansion of the students’ capacity to act in working situations. We identified some particularly key elements. We used the concept of schema for the analysis, and our proposals also enable trainers working in the field of health to expand their capacity to act.
