The evaluation of the therapeutic education of patients under anti-vitamin K treatment in cardiology or intensive care units
The aim of this research is to show the importance of quality in educating patients treated with anti-vitamin K to prevent possible complications related to disease. After having described the theoretical context of the educational process, the author asks whether the education offered by cardiologists is sufficient for patients to acquire the knowledge they need to prevent the iatrogenic risks of anti-vitamin K. The research showed the difficulty of the educational process for both patient and staff, considering a number of factors: the relatively short stay of patients, and the patient’s anxiety-provoking situation, linked with their pathology and concerns about their future. Following the results, the author proposed a personalized educational contract, involving the patient, as well as those around them and the extra-hospital network.
