English
The theory of self-care of chronic illness was developed by Barbara Riegel. It is based on three key concepts of self-care: maintaining health, monitoring changes, and managing symptoms. Clarifying this cognitive-behavioral process allows the health professional to support this process in partnership with the individual, so that he or she is able to maintain a stable state of health.
