History is the oldest social science. Its approaches are often empirical but may be borrowed from other disciplines, and its concepts have been developed by philosophers. Nevertheless, it requires great rigor in the study of sources, notably through external and internal criticism. Thanks to very rich archives (particularly the hospital collection), it is possible to write the history of nurses.
